The Positive Power of Video Games
Updated: Feb 4, 2020
Harness the power of video games at any age to boost your #cognitive skills! Video games have gotten such a bad rap, but if played in moderation, comes with so many benefits! Studies have show that video games:

help improve spatial attention and reduce impulsiveness
improve executive functioning such as planning, problem solving, and mental flexibility
reduce the mental decline that comes as we age (especially in working #memory, attention, and abstract reasoning)
bolster job related skills (including hand-eye coordination, decision making, and task switching)
enhances memory (including short-term and longer-term memory)
are a great source of #learning (and in some cases, can help individuals with learning disorders to overcome some of their learning differences)
For those concerned about video games increasing aggression, more and more research has shown that there is no significant relationship to real-world violence. I loved video games as a child and still as an adult. So it is truly for everyone! Want to harness the power of video games without getting derailed? Approach them like training sessions for your body. Just 30-60 minutes a session, a few days a week, is plenty. Don’t overdo it! What’s your favorite video game? Mine are Street Fighter, Tekken, Madden, Grand Theft Auto, Halo, and Mario Kart, to name a few!
