HEALTH TIP: Eat Chocolate
Updated: Oct 3, 2019
This is one of my favorite (and most delicious) health tips: Eat Chocolate.
Today I’m embarking on a chocolate tasting tour at Lydegate Farms. Getting to see the chocolate production process gives a really good perspective on how much goes into making the delicious yummy chocolate treats we indulge in that dates back to 2000 BC. But, chocolate gives us so much more than a happy and full tummy.
Dark chocolate (look for 70% and above) give you a dose of antioxidants which neutralizes free radicals and reduces inflammation.
The flavanols in dark chocolate assist in relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow, lowering blood pressure.
Dark chocolate provides important nutrients like magnesium, zinc, iron, copper, phosphorus.
Have you had your dose of chocolate today? Just 1-2 small squares (about 6 grams) daily will help you to reap the benefits above. There is too much of a good thing though, so don’t overindulge (although that is a tough challenge for all of us who love chocolate)!
