The new year is a perfect time to do a winter cleaning and to set a routine that will help you to manage your responsibilities and enjoy getting through your to-do list. Yes, I said ENJOY! Here’s my secret to avoid feeling overwhelmed on busy days: Tidy space, peaceful mind!

Clean up one space per day. Don’t go overboard and try to overhaul your entire home.
Set a timer. Start with 30-60 minutes, and do as much as you can in that timeframe.
Prioritize what you can see. Clear away clutter on surfaces first, it makes the biggest impact on how you feel.
Clear walkways. Clean paths will make you feel open and airy. So make it easy for you to zip around a room and maximize efficiency.
Adopt a minimalist mindset. Here’s a good rule: anything that you don’t use every hour, stow it away.
Create straight lines. If you must have items on your desk or counters (like something you’re actively working on), create straight lines and make stacks in columns.
