WELLNESS TIP: Spend Time Near Water

Did you know that a visit to a beach, lake, or any body of water (bathtub!) can actually change your brain?⁣

Science has shown us time and time again that people are happier, healthier, and more at peace when they are close to water, whether that’s the ocean, a river, a lake, a swimming pool, or even a bathtub!⁣


Some researchers dub this “blue space” = this restful, hypnotic space where your mind can take a little break and get some needed rest.⁣ ⁣ Some scientifically proven benefits include:⁣

  • It relaxes you. Water is relaxing because there is a lot of predictability with how water moves, and our mind craves routines to settle down.⁣

  • It helps with creativity! Water can inspire us because as our brain calms, we get the space needed to be more inventive and to think outside the box.⁣

  • It helps you connect to the world. Seeing something as elemental and as life-giving as water helps us to tap into gratitude and also the present moment. ⁣

  • It boosts your #mood! Researchers have found that spending time in and around water less to big boosts in feelings of well-being.⁣
