Don’t let the #weekend derail your wellness goals! Here’s how to have a great time AND up your health game!

TIP 1: DON'T DITCH THE ALARM
Yes, it is great to sleep in, but within reason! Your body thrives on #routine and if you oversleep, you’ll actually feel more tired. The National Sleep Foundation recommends 7-9 hours a night for most people, so try to stick to that.
TIP 2: MOVE YOUR BODY
Research shows that people log the least hours of physical activity between Friday and Sunday, while food and alcoholic beverage consumption shoot way up. So try to stay balanced with a little #exercise Saturday and Sunday.
TIP 3: SCHEDULE MINI-ADVENTURES
Planning for and anticipating something out of your norm is part of what makes you feel good. You experience positive feelings planning, looking forward to, and doing the activity. So make a plan to check out that new restaurant, to hit up a local museum, or to go to an iconic spot in your neighborhood (like me, at the Santa Monica Pier).
TIP 4: DISCONNECT
Make sure you schedule time to #disconnect from devices and have IRL time. If you must work on your computer or phone, put the time frames in your schedule and stick to it.
TIP 5: REFLECT
Make time (aim for 30 minutes to an hour) for #mindfulness and introspection. Read, journal, meditate, or color. The idea is to slow down just a bit - your mind will thank you for the peace and relaxation.
