WELLNESS TIP: Simple 5 Step Morning Routine
Your morning is incredibly precious and you need to spend it wisely. So many times, we can get derailed in the morning by distractions, as soon as we open our eyes. How your morning goes sets the roadmap for the rest of your day. Here are my tips for a brief yet effective #MorningRoutine!
Upon waking, drink a glass of ice water. It’s important to hydrate when you wake up. I prefer ice water because it feels energizing and soothing all at the same time.
Stay away from devices for at least 30 minutes. It’s too easy to get derailed by news updates, the latest YouTube videos, or to start texting a bunch of people. Take a breath. The digital world can wait.
Do a quick #reflection. People who reflect in the morning experience higher #productivity and less #burnout. But it can be brief! Try journaling, reading a few pages in and inspirational book, or visualizing how you’ll tackle your day one goal at a time.
Get some sunlight (and some exercise). If possible, try to get outdoors and move your body with a brisk walk, or do some stretches by a window. Morning sunlight reinforces your circadian rhythms, which dictates biological processes including appetite, energy, hormone production, and body temp.
Review/edit your to-do list. After all of the above, take out your to-do list and make sure it’s up to date and ready for your day. Don’t put this off until later - get a clear picture of what you need to do today so you can plan ahead.
